The Congaree Complex CDC is again sponsoring the “Reading Writing and Math Challenge with A Sports Connection” Camp during the month of June beginning on June 5. The Camp will culminate on June 29th with a “Show and Tell” afternoon where youth will display their projects and activities completed during the camp. Camp is for rising third through eighth graders. This year we have a special entrepreneurship camp for a week within our camp. This special week is the USTART Academy: How To Become A Kid Boss. We are looking forward to this camp where youth will also hone their reading, writing and math skills and engage in sports activities, such as basketball, tennis, aerobics exercises, volleyball, etc. as well as arts and crafts. This camp is free to our youth and they can earn as they learn. A stipend is awarded to students based on their daily attendance. Both breakfast and lunch will be served. The hours are from 8:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The camp will be held at the Red Hill Community Development Comp[ex, 732 Congaree Church RD, Gadsden, SC 29052. Our organization was birth from and is supported by the Red Hill Baptist Church, to be a catalyst in the area and help provide aide to the many problems that exist.

The Red Hill Church family agreed to build a multipurpose build to house many of the programs we have in mind for the Lower Richland area. We would like to expand our tutoring program, summer youth program, adult education and fitness, and jobs placement and education.

Our first program priority is a community based educational support services initiative that will target school age children in grades 5-12. These programs will extend from after school hours until 7:00pm and from 9:00am until 4:00pm during the summer months. There will also be a summer basketball camp for both boys and girls.
